Bondi Beach Hanukkah Attack Accused Faces 59 Charges
Bondi Beach mass shooting incident accused 24-year-old Naveed Akram recently appeared in court. He appeared for the first time via video link from a high-security prison. The shooting took place in December last year. In the recent hearing, he was charged with 59 serious offenses, including 15 murder charges and one terrorism charge, in connection with an attack on a Hanukkah celebration. Akram and his father, Sajid, who was killed by police during the attack, allegedly spent months planning the attack thoroughly due to extremist beliefs. Although the court mentioned the suppression orders for the survivors, Akram’s lawyer explained that it is still too soon to plead a guilty plea while awaiting the full evidence briefing. Akram is currently held at Goulburn Supermax and is set to appear in court again in April.
